Submissions

Our submissions window for pamphlet publication in 2019 is now open.

In 2019 we will be publishing up to 5 pamphlets from poets who have not previously had a pamphlet or collection.  We will choose the pamphlet poets from submissions sent in during the submissions window which is open until December 31st 2018.  If you would like us to consider your work here’s how to submit.

Anyone who lives within a 50 mile radius of Otley, West Yorkshire and has not had a pamphlet or collection of poems published (or has only self-published) is eligible to submit.  We will charge a submission fee of £15 but we do not want to exclude people from submitting if they cannot afford the fee so there will be up to 10 free submissions places available.  If you wish to have one of these, please email us at info@halfmoonbooks.co.uk confirm that you are on a low income and cannot afford the submissions charge and we will let you know if there is a free place available.  Do this as soon as you can – if you book a free place you will have until December 31st 2018 to submit the poems.

To submit your work for consideration you need to have between 18 and 22 poems (or pages of longer poems) that would make a pamphlet.  Do not send more poems than this or fewer poems than this.  Please send your poems as a single Word or .pdf file attached to an email.  We will reply to you about your submission to that email only.  DO NOT PUT YOUR NAME OR ANY IDENTIFYING MARKS ON YOUR POEMS OR THEY WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.  Make the filename the title of your pamphlet.

Send us the file attached to an email and in the body of the email tell us your name, postal address, email and telephone number.  If you’ve paid by PayPal or cheque in a name other than the one in your email, please let us know to avoid confusion.

Pay the submissions fee via PayPal to the email address above or via the button below or send a cheque made out to OWF Press by post to Half Moon Books, Otley Courthouse, Courthouse Street, Otley, West Yorkshire LS21 3AN.  Please don’t send your poems by post.  We can only accept your submission as an attachment to an email.

Please don’t be put off applying if you can’t afford to pay – just ask if there’s a free space.  It won’t make any difference to how your poems are judged.

We will accept submissions up to 31 December 2018.  We’ll let you know the outcome by 10th February.

Poets selected will receive:  editorial support, 15 free copies (additional copies at significant discount) a launch event and help with booking additional appearances.
